My Insurance arranged for my car to be collected from your Kent branch after an accident, I have spoken to a few people at the site who were all very helpful.  The damage resulted in my car being written off but I had left some items inc service book & tax in the vehicle, when the site manager realised he lived around the corner from me he offered to drop the items off on the way home.

Unfortunately people going the extra mile to help you is a rarity these days and I felt his actions should be brought to your attention.

Earlier this week you repaired some damage to our car sustained when someone ran into it in a car park. We are delighted with the repair and the courtesy and professionalism of everyone at ABL. Repair Process Overview

  • Once we receive your information from your insurer, we will contact you by phone to arrange a convenient booking in date.
  • On that day we will collect your vehicle and if authorised, provide you with a courtesy car to use while your vehicle is being repaired.
  • Once onsite your vehicle damage will be assessed by one of our ATA trained estimators. This estimate will be sent to your insurer for authorisation. Once received we will order the required parts and contact you to advise you when we expect the repairs to your vehicle to be completed.
  • During the repair process you will be provided with regular updates.
  • Once repairs are complete we will contact you and arrange for your vehicle to be returned to you.

COLLECTION

Can you collect my car from a different address? 

Provided the alternative address is within our post code coverage, we can arrange this.  If it falls outside our area, we may need permissions from your insurers.

Can I bring my vehicle to you?

Of course, our team are always on hand to receive your vehicle within our opening times, just call ahead to confirm.

Why do you need my credit card details?

This is simply to secure against any speeding fines / congestion charges / damages incurred to the courtsey car while in your possession.

Will my card details be used?

These terms are outlined within our terms & conditions, however we will always contact you beforhand.

 COURTESY CARS

Am I entitled to a courtesy car?

If we are your insurers approved repairer, then you are provided with a courtesy car, if your policy allows.

What size courtesy car will I get?

Standard courtesy car policy entitles you to a class A manual vehicle.

Can I have an automatic?

If your licence is automatic only, we can provide an automatic vehicle.

How long can I have the courtesy car?

The provision of a vehicle is for the duration of the repairs or until your vehicle is written off.  The courtesy car has to be made available for collection within 24 hours of either the repairs to your vehicle being completed or your vehicle being written off, after that the courtesy car becomes a hire car.

What happens if I have an accident in the courtesy car?

If we are your insurers approved repairer then your insurance policy is automatically transferred onto the courtesy car and you continue to drive under your own policy.

Please check when your car will be ready before filling up the courtesy car with fuel as your car may be ready sooner than you think!

EXCESS & VAT

How much is my excess?

We are notified of the amount in line with your insurance policy, any queries need to be taken up with your insurers.

When do I pay my excess?

We need to be in receipt of cleared funds upon return of your repaired vehicle.

Do I have to pay an excess if the accident wasn't my fault?

This is between you and your insurers, only they can make this decision.

Can I pay by credit card?

Yes, we take all forms of credit and debit cards, except American Express.  We no longer accept cheques.

I am VAT registered, do I need to pay VAT?

 If the use of your vehicle is in line with your VAT status as set by HMRC, you will need to pay the VAT.

  REPAIRS

Will my vehicle be written off?

We don't wish to see any vehicle written off, if it can safely be repaired, however for some vehicle damage the cost of repairing the car is more than the vehicle is worth and this decision lies with your insurers engineers.

When will my repairs be authorised?

 If we are your insurers approved repairer, apart from very severe damage or any query on your claim, we are authorised to start repairs to your vehicle as soon as possible. 

Who decides what damage is repaired?

 We will estimate for the damage described by you and your insurers, it is their engineer who will decide if it is consistent with the accident and safe to be repaired.

How long will my repairs take?

 We aim to get your vehicle back to you without delay.  The average repair period is 3-5 working days, but severely damaged vehicles will take longer and smaller repairs are usually onsite for 1-2 days only.  We will advise you once we have your vehicle onsite.

My car has other damage not relating to the accident, can this be repaired at the same time?

 Yes, as the vehicle is already booked into our repair centre it would be sensible to have other dents and scratches repaired at the same time.  Please ask our vehicle damage assessors who will be happy to provide you with a competitive quote.
